With the help of an anonymous donor, a wing of Trinity Western University’s Douglas Hall dorm will soon have refurbished rooms—and a new name: the Kenneth L. Loge Dorm.
Reverend Loge served on the School for Canada Committee, which was instrumental in launching Trinity Junior College back in 1962. He and Delbert Reimer are the only two living members of that committee. In the early years, Loge worked tirelessly to promote the fledgling school. This past summer when Bob Kuhn took up his post as Interim President, Loge sent him a heartfelt typewritten note of encouragement, which Kuhn later posted on his blog.
In his July 5, 2013 letter Loge wrote, “I have time to pray. Count on me. I’ll be praying for you and the great school God gave us.”
The 98-year-old pioneer, who also served two terms on TWU’s Board of Governors, was at last Saturday’s Legacy Reception to receive the honour from President Bob Kuhn and Scott Campbell, VP Alumni and Executive Director of the Trinity Western University Alumni Association. The Legacy Reception is one of the University’s signature events, and is held annually to honour TWU’s supporters.
“It was a privilege to honour Kenneth at this event,” said Kuhn. “The prayers and perseverance of the University’s founders have made it a place that has gone on to touch the lives of thousands of young people.”
Some 40 students will benefit from the refurbishment, which will see one of the oldest dorm rooms on campus improved with updated washroom facilities, carpets, and lighting, among other improvements.
