September 27, 2017, Langley, B.C: Trinity Western University celebrates the opening of Skidmore Hall today, the first new student residence on the university’s Langley campus in 25 years. The university invites media, students, faculty, staff and TWU supporters to attend a short dedication ceremony and building tour to honour this marker of TWU’s status as the largest and fastest growing Christian university in Canada.
New university campaigns have led to increased interest and enrolment from all over North America. Skidmore Hall will provide on-campus accommodation for 130 students each year, helping to ease the limitations of some of the current residence halls and allow more space to welcome new students. New for the 2017-2018 school year, TWU has also added a new café, expanded its current cafeteria, and renovated it’s bookstore to meet the rapid student growth today and plan for continued growth in the years ahead.

In recent years, the university’s current 900 residence beds have been filled, and some double-occupancy rooms were converted into triple-occupancy rooms to meet demand. Still, some upper year students were turned away from on-campus housing.
The new residence is named in honour of the Skidmore family. The Langley family have been long-time supporters of TWU, and have had many members of their family graduate from TWU.
With the addition of a new satellite campus in Richmond, B.C. in 2016, and the new residence hall in 2017 on the main campus this year to meet student demand, the university is delivering on its commitment to meet demand and rise to the challenge of "inspiring hearts and minds.”
