2021 Canada Graduate Scholarship – Master’s Awards winners: TWU graduate researchers recognized for excellence

Trinity Western University is pleased to announce that three outstanding graduate students have been chosen to receive 2021 Canada Graduate Scholarship – Master’s Awards, which recognize and honour high-calibre students who are pursuing a master’s degree in the social sciences or humanities in Canada. Congratulations to Dana Lai, Ashley McTaggart, and Allison Yang.


Students in Canada across all disciplines compete to receive Canada Graduate Scholarship – Master’s Awards (CGS-M) awards, valued at $17,500 each. CGS-M awards recognize and honour high-calibre students who are pursuing a master’s degree in the social sciences or humanities in Canada. This national program supports scholars in advancing their chosen discipline and furthering their research. The awards are administered jointly by Canada’s three granting agencies: CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC. 

Each year, winners are selected on the basis of academic excellence, research potential, personal character and leadership skill.

Ashley McTaggart, MA Counselling Psychology
Faculty Supervisor: Marvin McDonald, Ph.D.
Award: CIHR (Canadian Institutes of Health Research)

Allison Yang, MA Counselling Psychology
Faculty Supervisor: Derrick Klaassen, Ph.D.
Award: SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council)
