Dear TWU Community
As many of you are aware, the COVID-19 situation is continuing to evolve rapidly and I want to provide you with an additional update since my communication with you yesterday.
While we have no cases of COVID-19 at Trinity Western University, we feel a significant responsibility to take additional measures that could help slow the spread of this global pandemic.
In response to yesterday’s announcement by the provincial health officer of British Columbia—and out of an abundance of care and concern for the health and safety of our students, staff, faculty and surrounding communities—we are suspending classes after today and will resume classes online as of Wednesday, March 18.
During this time, resident students are welcome to stay on campus. Campuses will remain open and services will continue as normal. For students wishing to return home, Student Life staff will be available as of 5:30 p.m. today to facilitate their move and will communicate additional information to residents shortly.
We recognize the significant disruption all of this is causing and we share in the disappointment of what this means for our students, especially those of you who are graduating at the end of the semester. We appreciate that this is not likely how you anticipated finishing your time at university.
By taking this deliberate and necessary action, we hope to reduce and delay transmission of COVID-19 within Trinity Western University and to protect vulnerable members of our community.
Even in their well-founded anxiety, God’s children call upon the One who promises to shelter and sustain us amidst the journey of life.
We covet your prayers and understanding,
Mark Husbands
President
