Dear TWU Community,
Our COVID-19 Response Team comprised of leaders across TWU first convened on January 23 to protect the health and well-being of our students, staff, and faculty. We have been monitoring the worldwide situation regarding COVID-19 and have implemented our Pandemic Response Protocol that guides priority actions and ensures organizational preparedness across the University.
There are currently no presumptive or confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Trinity Western University. In the event of a presumptive or confirmed case, the relevant health authorities will guide our next steps according to their protocols.
In light of the World Health Organization’s recent announcement of the COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic, we are taking additional measures that could successfully help slow the spread of COVID-19.
Most notably, we have rescheduled our upcoming Spring 2020 graduation ceremony—set to be held on Saturday, April 25—to will now take place on Saturday, November 7. We recognize graduation is a significant accomplishment, one that students celebrate with their parents and grandparents. This change in schedule will allow those who would otherwise face a greater risk of exposure during travel to attend graduation.
Additionally, our faculty are preparing to move classes online should the situation change.
During this time all campus services will continue. We are taking the following precautionary measures and cancelling until further notice:
- Conference travel with large gatherings
- Travel studies to or through Europe and affected areas
- Athletic travel for exhibition games
- Experiential learning on sites with confirmed cases of COVID-19
- University meetings or events (on and off-campus) with more than 100 people
We will also be moving our daily Chapel services online for the remainder of the semester beginning Monday, March 16.
God instructs us to “show kindness and mercy to one another” (Zech. 7:9) and we invite you to pray for those affected by COVID-19. May God grant wisdom, courage and strength to all healthcare professionals and decision-makers on the frontlines of this pandemic as they provide vital care and leadership in this season of crisis.
Grace and peace,
Mark Husbands
President
