TWU students and graduates are known for their desire to use their skills, education, and sense of calling to make a difference in the world. Student Ministries Expo Night on September 14 was an introduction to the many ways they can make an impact while at University.
The second week of the semester is underway at Trinity Western, and students are looking for meaningful ways to get involved, here on campus and beyond.

“It’s just an awesome way to show Christ’s love in our own backyard.”
— Caleb Brown, TWU Local Outreach
To better connect students to the various opportunities in and around campus, TWU Student Ministries hosts an Expo Night every year in September. This year's Expo Night was September 14.
“Expo is a tradition here at Trinity Western,” said Rob Rhea, Associate VP of Student Life.
Rhea describes how this year, he and his team creatively set up Expo to stretch throughout the first floor of Reimer Student Centre, creating more space for groups of students to flow through and have room to visit every Expo table.
"We raise awareness of campus diversity and work to improve physical and academic accessibility.”
— Lexie Rose, TWURise
There was a wealth of opportunities available to students. Selections included special interest clubs, student government, recreational sports, spiritual formation, and ministry outreach.
Many groups provided leadership training and practicum opportunities for students, while others sought to advance the wellbeing of those who are vulnerable in our community and around the world.
Caleb Brown, Biblical Studies major, is the Local Outreach Coordinator at TWU. He describes how TWU students partner with local ministries to serve the city.
“It’s just an awesome way to show Christ’s love in our own backyard,” Brown said, in describing TWU Local Outreach's five main areas of focus: seniors’ ministry, youth, kids, homeless ministries, and refugee care.
TWURise is Trinity Western’s accessibility club. Club leader Lexie Rose, a Psychology with a Certificate in Human Services major, describes the club as “a student-led group for students with exceptionalities."
"We raise awareness of campus diversity and work to improve physical and academic accessibility,” Rose said.
Clubs can also jumpstart students into their future career and help them narrow their field of interest.
Haley Friesen, Biology major, describes how the Biology Club can also serve as a networking opportunity. “The biology club is a group where students can learn more about their career paths and find community amongst like-minded peers,” she said.
“We plan to have informative and fun nights throughout the semester, so check out our Instagram page!” she added.
Clubs also provide a source of mutual encouragement and empowerment.
“We’re here to serve them and help them as much as we can, to push the limits of their future.”
— Lisa Arce, Young Women in Leadership (YWIL)
Lisa Arce, who majors in Business Administration with an Accounting concentration, is VP of Finance with the club, Young Women in Leadership (YWIL).
“We are a club on campus that serves women and encourages them with workshops, and we empower them to pursue leadership opportunities,” she said.
YWIL hosts leadership events, with a pinnacle conference at the end of the year.
The club's mission is to advance young women. “We’re here to serve them and help them as much as we can, to push the limits of their future," Arce said.
There are a multitude of ways that students can get involved in the TWU community.
