Trinity Western University is pleased to announce that Monica Rawlek and Samuel Corbett are the recipients of TWU's 2021 Citizenship Awards.
Since 1980, Trinity Western has presented the Citizenship Award at graduation to a female and male graduate who have exemplified servant leadership and made a significant impact on the Trinity Western community. Citizenship Award recipients are selected through a vote by their peers, as well as staff and faculty.
Vice President of Student Life Richard Taylor said, "Our recipients for 2020-21 have both played a crucial role in our community over the past four to five years. They have been a strong presence as we have navigated the COVID-19 pandemic."
The first recipient of the Citizenship Award is Monica Rawlek. Monica has served in many different roles during her time at Trinity Western. One of her most significant roles was serving as the Vice President of Student Relations with TWU's Student Association (TWUSA) in 2019-20. Monica worked tirelessly on behalf of underserved students who needed it most.
"Her joy was contagious," said Taylor. "We cannot wait to see how God continues to use Monica to make a difference for his Kingdom beyond Trinity."
The second recipient of the Citizenship Award is Samuel Corbett. "Sam is someone who continually steps up to provide mature and steady leadership," said Taylor. Many men on campus have looked up to him and been encouraged by his strong faith and integrity, Taylor attests. Sam has served the TWU community through a variety of Community Life roles, including leading dorms, resident assistants and apartment groups. "We are the beneficiaries of the selfless way you live. Thank you Sam!" said Taylor.
A warm congratulations to Monica Rawlek and Samuel Corbett.
