Due to a strange sequence of events, Vancouver's United Players got the rights to present the world premiere of British playwright Tony Harrison's adaptation of Moliere's classic comedyThe Misanthrope. Set in Washington, D.C. during the Bush era, Harrison's humourous and insightful version retains the rhyming verse and has a great deal of fun with the language.
Jackie Faulkner also has a lot of fun, playing three different characters including the hyper hipster Dubber, a political intern who is Harrison's modern equivalent of the comic servant. Faulkner impressed with her manic movement, engaging lunacy, and expert timing.
