“2021 is the optimal time to boost one’s professional skills. The pandemic has sped up changes in the marketplace, and leaders and managers need to stay ahead of the game. TWU’s Executive MBA program will provide leaders with the knowledge, tools and practices to excel in the current and coming contexts.”
— Dr. Chen Liu, Director of the MBA Programs
Welcoming its inaugural cohort in Sept 2021, TWU’s new Executive MBA (EMBA) program advances life and career paths through close mentorship by experienced faculty, weekend courses and supportive learning cohorts — leading graduates to achieve greater confidence and leadership capacity within 16 months.
Designed for professionals, each EMBA course is completed within two consecutive weekends (Thursday evening, Friday and Saturday), and includes networking opportunities before and after classes.
What’s different about an Executive MBA?
Unlike a traditional MBA program that helps ambitious professionals upgrade, the EMBA empowers current managers and leaders to sharpen their skills and excel in their executive role.
The EMBA program is for people seeking to advance their career, to prepare for a successful career change, or to scale their business ventures.
Why is now the right time?
EMBA graduates reported an average 13.5% salary increase upon program completion, according to data collected by the 2019 EMBAC Student Exit Survey. The same research revealed that 40% of EMBA students received a promotion during their program.
Director of MBA programs Dr. Chen Liu said, “2021 is the optimal time to boost one’s professional skills. The pandemic has sped up changes in the marketplace, and leaders and managers need to stay ahead of the game. TWU’s Executive MBA program will provide leaders with the knowledge, tools and practices to excel in the current and coming contexts.”

Business alumna Grace Chiu, who went on to become a senior manager in Canada’s third-largest multinational bank, credits the strong connections she made at TWU.
“There are about six people I still keep in contact with from the program, and we all reach out to each other on various things,” said Chiu. “Plus, when you make connections with people who aren’t in the same industry, you also gain insights into other industries, which could also lead to other career paths.”
Chamber musician and music educator Tara Quan made the shift to become an entrepreneur after studying at TWU. Using her background in classical music, Quan turned her ideas into a solid business model. She remembers how studying at TWU gave her “the chance to look at my career, and even the whole world differently.”
“Professors encouraged me to think outside the box, and I gained key advantages that allowed me to be successful in my industry,” Quan said.
Small class sizes that promote greater learning through interaction
Operating within a brand new state-of-the-art Robert G. Kuhn building, the EMBA program is a hybrid of course lectures, case discussions and student presentations. Small class sizes foster greater interaction and prompt questioning and deep dives into topics that are most interesting and relevant to students in the class.
