Lansdowne in Richmond is Trinity Western University’s newest location. Since opening in the spring of 2020, the Lansdowne location has served a global student body through a mix of online and in-person classes, specializing in the areas of leadership and business.
In addition to its main campus in Langley, BC, and branch campus in Ottawa, ON, Trinity Western University operates two in locations in Richmond, BC: Minoru (305-5900 Minoru Blvd) and Lansdowne (102-5300 Number 3 Road).
Every year, roughly 1,000 students choose to pursue their studies at one or both TWU Richmond sites.
On November 4, 2022, the Lansdowne location hosted an open house to celebrate over two years of serving local and international students. MLA Teresa Wat and Mayor Malcolm Brodie were both present to offer congratulatory remarks. Several city councillors were also present for the open house event, as well as members of TWU’s leadership, faculty, staff, and students.
Facility for leadership development
TWU is located on the second floor of Lansdowne Centre. The 20,000 square feet of renovated learning space features modern furnishings and connectivity and offers 11 classrooms, a learning centre, project rooms, a spacious courtyard, and faculty offices. Its close proximity to the SkyTrain is ideal for commuting students, while the mall offers students convenient access to restaurants and services just steps away.
“Building out this facility…is allowing us to carry out a tremendous calling: the summons to help Trinity Western University students make significant progress in their lives,” TWU President Mark Husbands said at the Nov. 4 event.
“Here in Richmond, we seek to advance opportunities for every student to flourish and to grow. This commitment follows from our deep conviction that everyone has been created by God with dignity, value, potential, and purpose.”
Empowered to lead
Student leader Zhihao (George) Wang spoke during the Nov. 4 event of the care and value he experienced as an international student at TWU Richmond. He also expressed gratitude for the opportunities to learn and to practice leadership on campus.
“We are empowered to design and lead our own clubs to serve students and create a community where everyone feels engaged and connected,” Wang said.
“Speaking as a student leader, I am empowered. I am empowered with the hope of the future, as a young leader of our generation, to face the difficult challenges yet without losing faith, integrity, and justice.”
Professional and personal equipping
TWU Richmond’s two locations offer graduate and undergraduate education catered to working professionals, and local and international students. Among core offerings are the Leadership degrees—including the BA in Leadership, BA in Leadership degree completion, and Master of Arts in Leadership—and the growing Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs. Earlier this fall, TWU’s new Executive MBA (EMBA) program launched at the Minoru location, welcoming its inaugural cohort of Richmond EMBA students, all of whom have experience in a variety of professional industries and academic fields.
In addition to academic programs, TWU Richmond is known for its vibrant, warm, and welcoming campus community. Student Life in Richmond regularly hosts group excursions in and around the city.
Hands-on leadership training opportunities offered through TWU Richmond’s many clubs and volunteering connections allow students to practice serving other students and the society around them.
