On October 26, 2019, Trinity Western University (TWU) and Tianjin University of Finance and Economics (TUFE) hosted the opening ceremony for the new cohorts of the Great Wall MBA program in Tianjin, China.
TWU President, Mark Husbands, and his wife, Becky, joined Kevin Sawatsky, Dr. Mark Lee, Dr. Blair Whitmarsh, and Dr. Chen Liu for the ceremony. Dr. Jinlan Liu, President of TUFE; Dr. Hao Meng, Vice President; and Dr. Munong Yi, MBA Dean, attended the ceremony.
Truly one of the great foreign joint venture programs in China, the Great Wall MBA welcomed 90 new students, bringing a record of 202 students currently registered in the program. “We are launching large cohorts of well-qualified students. The growth of this program in just six years is a remarkable achievement,” stated Kevin Sawatsky, Dean of the TWU School of Business. Dr. Mark Lee, Director of the MBA programs, expressed his appreciation to TUFE’s MBA team on their leadership of the program and committed to bring the MBA program and the partnership to the next level.
Dr. Husbands expressed TWU’s support for the Great Wall MBA program. He spoke highly of the co-operation of the two universities. “The Great Wall MBA program will equip the next generation of leaders with the qualities that will enable them to creatively solve the challenges of the future, and to positively impact the social, technological, and business environments around the world,” said Dr. Husbands.
Dr. Jinlan Liu expressed TUFE’s commitment to the joint-venture MBA. She firmly believes that the curriculum strength, teaching quality, and well-designed coaching system are key to the success of the program. Student representatives from Shanghai, Beijing, and Tianjin also spoke at the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the presidents of the two universities held a friendly meeting at TUFE’s MBA Education Center. They signed a memorandum of understanding for a pre-MBA program, which lays a solid foundation for future co-operation between the two universities.
The TWU–TUFE Great Wall MBA program first started in 2013 and has grown into one of China’s top ten international MBA programs. The program’s goal is to help students develop a global business perspective by studying in one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing economies. TWU’s School of Business is a proud member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). TUFE’s MBA program is accredited by the UK’s Association of MBAs (AMBA).
