Trinity Western University announces Brian Kerr as new Senior Vice President of Enrolment, Personal and Career Development

It is with great enthusiasm that Trinity Western University announces the appointment of Brian Kerr as the Senior Vice President (SVP), Enrolment, Personal and Career Development. Along with assuming his new role, Kerr has joined the University’s Executive Leadership Team.

“Brian Kerr is an extraordinarily talented individual who possesses the rare combination of mature faith, technical ability, and emotional intelligence, to inspire and lead teams in the expression of genuine interest, care, and commitment to the lives and future of students. Brian will play a vital role in helping Trinity Western to deliver on the promise to equip graduates with the ability, faith, and experience to land their next job, and make significant contributions to the communities and organizations in which they are called to serve,” President Mark Husbands remarked.

Brian Kerr has faithfully served the University for over 18 years in a number of leadership capacities, including his most recent role as Vice President of Enrolment. During his tenure, Trinity Western saw its highest year-over-year enrolment growth, including the current fall 2020 academic term, in which TWU’s enrolment grew 6.7% over last year—the highest number in the University’s 58-year history.

Kerr’s appointment as SVP of Enrolment, Personal and Career Development signals an exciting development for the future of Trinity Western University, as it begins to lay the groundwork for preparing new ways of helping graduates prepare for their futures.

Preparing graduates for life and career

Through the Office of Enrolment, Personal and Career Development, Kerr and his team aim to work with faculty and staff in caring for and supporting students in the discovery of identity, calling, and leadership.

“Today’s world calls for leaders who are not only knowledgeable and skilled, but also equipped with a sense of purpose,” said Kerr, regarding the announcement of the brand-new division. He continued, “We are here to guide students as they form who they are, what they believe, and what their calling is in life. By doing so, we are helping every graduate be fully equipped to make a positive contribution to the world.”

Creating a seamless student journey

In his role, Kerr will now oversee a new division that combines the offices of Enrolment, Parent Engagement, Alumni, and Personal & Career Development. He and his team will develop a cross-functional Strategic Enrolment Management (SEM) framework, working with key University areas to create a comprehensive, end-to-end student journey—beginning with recruitment and continuing through to the alumni community.

Kerr expressed, “We are excited to create a tailored student experience that embeds personal and career development into the DNA of everything that we do. We are helping students along their journey—starting with how we recruit, to how we serve students and parents, and to how we continue to serve them as alumni and parents of alumni.”

A TWU alumnus, Kerr holds a BA in History and an MBA in Non-Profit Management. He is also a Certified Leadership Coach.
