More than 50,000 students from over 100 countries compete each year in the International Collegiate Programming Contest—the oldest, largest, and most prestigious university-level programming competition in the world.
This year, a group of TWU Computing Science students joined the action. To prepare for this competition, the students had been gathering to train on a weekly basis since the Fall 2021 semester.
On competition day, March 5, 2022, the six TWU participants were divided into teams of three people each. Together, they raced against the clock to solve real-world coding problems. The day-long contest challenged the students’ knowledge, collaboration, creativity, and ability to work under pressure.
ICPC competitions are held at local, regional and international levels. In the Pacific Northwest region of Canada, TWU teams ranked 6th and 7th in competing against other larger universities (total of 12 teams). Overall, TWU teams ranked 27th and 30th among 85 teams in Division 2 in the ICPC Pacific Northwest regional competition.
