TWU GLOBAL students and faculty join International Leadership Association conference focused on "Cultivating Leadership for a Thriving Future"

Driving positive conversations around the future of global leadership

As a diverse group of leaders and learners gathered in Vancouver, B.C. this October, TWU GLOBAL's BA and MA in Leadership program students and faculty were among them, helping to drive positive conversations around the future of global leadership.

Through plenary sessions, workshops, and roundtable discussions, conference attendees at the International Leadership Association (ILA) Global Conference shared knowledge and ideas, enriching one another by bringing their diverse perspectives and experiences.

Joining the conversation for a better future

The 2023 ILA Global Conference featured a rich program of learning and networking. During the conference new research and publications on leadership were readily accessible, along with a variety of talks and presentations by experienced and notable leaders from around the world.

Together, conference attendees sought to advance the study and practice of leadership across business, organizational, and societal realms, and progress towards the vision of a just and thriving world.

Rt. Hon. Kim Campbell, 19th Prime Minister of Canada, was the chair of this year’s ILA Global Conference, which centered on the theme, “Cultivating Leadership for a Thriving Future.” Joining the former prime minister was a team of leaders that included Dr. Shawna Nist, who oversees TWU’s leadership programs as dean of TWU GLOBAL, and who served as a ILA conference program co-chair. Dr. Nist has been an ILA member since 2007. She presented her dissertation research at the 2009 annual conference in Prague and at the first Women and Leadership Conference in Asilomar in 2013.

Exchanging knowledge and ideas

Many TWU students participated at the conference as volunteers, coordinated by Assistant Professor of Leadership Dr. Doug Atha who chaired the conference committee for volunteer recruitment. In addition to being a key conference sponsor, TWU participated actively with a strong delegation of about 20 staff and faculty and 75 student volunteers.
