TWU graduate students gear up to tell the story of their research at the 2023 Three Minute Thesis competition (3MT)

Graduate students at Trinity Western University are getting ready to tell the story of their research in clear and compelling ways — and in under three minutes.

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition started in Australia at The University of Queensland in 2008 and has since been organized at universities around the world. Trinity Western University started hosting 3MT competitions in 2013, organized by the Office of Graduate Studies.

TWU’s upcoming 3MT competition will take place on April 4, 2023. The event is open to all to attend.

By participating in TWU’s 3MT, students are challenged to distill their academic work into a brief and engaging presentation to inform general listeners. Through this experience, students gain confidence in communication and public speaking and are provided the opportunity to share their research discoveries with others.

Prizes will be awarded to the best presenters. The student who is chosen as the winner of TWU’s 3MT will advance to the 2023 national Western regional competition in Saskatchewan.

Find out how graduate students at TWU are making a difference in the fields of linguistics, psychology, and humanities, and how their research impacts the broader society. Come and celebrate the creative and scholarly work of TWU researchers in their various fields of expertise.
