“Every graduate is equipped to think truthfully, act justly, and live faithfully for the good of the world and the glory of God.” – TWU Vision
The purpose of the TWU Alumni Awards is to celebrate and recognize alumni who exemplify the vision of the University as equipped graduates, pursue their calling and purpose, and participate in God's renewal of the world through their lives and careers. In 2023, we will recognize three alumni who embody the University's vision in three primary categories: Think Truthfully, Act Justly, and Live Faithfully.
Think Truthfully Award
This Alumni Award recognizes a Trinity Western University alumnus/alumna who exemplifies the University's commitment to pursue truth through excellence in Christian research and ministry and in the integration of faith and reason. The recipient of this award has made significant contributions to an academic field, education, and/or creative work (literature, art, etc.,) that displays the beauty, meaning, and truth of God’s work in the world.
Act Justly Award
This Alumni Award recognizes a Trinity Western University alumnus/alumna who, in alignment with the University's vision, is making a significant impact in the world by promoting justice, advocacy, and care for the marginalized and the oppressed. This award celebrates alumni who have demonstrated a commitment to social justice through their work, activism, and service to their communities.
Live Faithfully Award
This Alumni Award recognizes a Trinity Western University alumnus/alumna who embodies the University's commitment to equipping graduates to faithfully participate in God’s renewal of the world. Calvin Hanson, founding president of Trinity Western University, and his wife, Muriel, exercised faith in a time of great uncertainty. Their motto was “Do not doubt in the dark what God has shown you in the light”. This award honours an alumnus/alumna who has likewise shown steadfast devotion to living out their faith in commendable ways: devoting themselves to fulfilling the Great Commission, spreading the love of Christ in the places they live and work, and inspiring others to do the same.
