Campus Security in relation to Parking Services
The security of your vehicle is your responsibility. The University assumes no responsibility for loss or damage through fire, theft, collision or otherwise to the contents.
Campus Security will do their utmost to patrol, protect, and secure all areas of campus, but it is up to the students, staff, faculty and guests, to help in this area by not making their vehicle and their possessions vulnerable to car thieves. Please understand that vehicle safety and the incidences of theft are not limited to other parts of the Lower Mainland. Thieves will attempt to locate any vehicle that is unsecured.
- Please use an anti-theft device on your vehicle while parked on campus. There are three types of safety devices used:
- a) mechanical, like a steering wheel lock,
- b) vehicle alarms, and

- Please be certain that your vehicle is locked and all windows are closed when you leave it. Do not leave any valuables in your vehicle.
- Engrave your personal belongings with your driver's license number. Purchase a removable stereo unit if possible, and when you leave your vehicle, place it in the trunk of your car, out of sight. Carry your laptop with you at all times. Keep all valuables with you and do not take your vehicle and possessions for granted.
- Report any suspicious activity of any persons in the parking areas to Security at 2099 local or 604.657.9911. Immediately report all incidents and/or thefts to Security.
- Keep a spare key in your wallet, not in your vehicle. (A mobile locksmith will charge $35.00 or more for an unlock.)
- Try to park in areas that will be well-lit when you return to your vehicle. If at any time you feel apprehensive while you are walking to your vehicle, find a secure place to make a phone call to Security to voice any concerns.
